FRUITY

Cannabis can taste fruity due to the presence of specific terpenes—aromatic compounds found in many plants, including cannabis. These terpenes are responsible for the distinctive smells and flavors of different strains. The fruity taste typically comes from the following key terpenes:

  1. Limonene

    • Flavor/Smell: Citrusy—like lemons, limes, and oranges.

    • Role: Limonene gives strains a bright, zesty, citrus fruit character and is one of the most common terpenes in fruity cannabis.

  2. Ocimene

    • Flavor/Smell: Sweet, herbaceous, and slightly fruity (especially reminiscent of mango or papaya).

    • Role: Ocimene contributes to sweet and tropical notes.

  3. Terpinolene

    • Flavor/Smell: Complex—floral, herbal, and slightly fruity (like apples or lilacs).

    • Role: Often found in fruity strains, it gives a sweet and fresh character.

  4. Valencene

    • Flavor/Smell: Strong citrus (especially orange peel).

    • Role: Adds a very tangy, sweet orange flavor to strains.

  5. Geraniol

    • Flavor/Smell: Floral and fruity, like roses and peaches.

    • Role: Adds a delicate, perfumed fruitiness.

These terpenes, either alone or in combination, can make cannabis smell and taste like berries, citrus, tropical fruit, or even candy, depending on their ratios and interactions with cannabinoids and flavonoids.
